Poetry

I cried for the beauty of friendship
wept at the reality of healed trauma
Tears fell as rain on the fertile soil
of my life when art reflected
the highest potential for humanity
in a stunning display
of empathy and grace*
Once scorched and depleted
my earthen nature again bears…
Poetry for dog lovers

Walking the pup
Following trails
They wander the hillside
Off leash or on
Surmount the steep
Deposit on slope
Perilous for pedestrians
Not all canine custodians
Brave the cliffs
To pilfer fido’s fertilizer
From the treacherous terrain
So watch your step
Responsible pet parents
Lest you pick up
Peculiar poo
Beneath your shoe…
A poem

Self-care
used to be
staccato
sporadic
stolen
moments
Age and wisdom
offer grace––
Time and space
to indulge
Now the love
I offer myself
is like a murmuration
of starlings
My flight
is love
the destination,
service
The love expressed
anywhere can be
expressed
everywhere
